PRP "Anti-aging" Facial

What are PRP Facials?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) facials are the newest procedures that involve extracting and inserting platelets, which consist of stem cells and growth factors that can potentially increase collagen production, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, heal acne scarring, and improve skin tone.

LIVV Natural specializes in PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Anti-aging Vampire Facials. This treatment is beneficial for acne scars, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, indentations, and poor skin health. Watch the procedure performed by Dr. Leslie Black ND

What are the causes of wrinkles

Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process and sometimes even the happy signs of laughter and smiles around the eyes and lips. Despite the good reasons for wrinkles, most people agree that wrinkles are less desirable than our natural youthful skin. Some wrinkles are inevitable, but there are many reason why wrinkles form, crease more deeply and happen sooner in life. Exposure to the sun and UV lights, the act of smoking, dehydration, environmental factors and even genetics can make you more at risk for deeper lines and wrinkles on your face and body.  You can possibly avoid excess wrinkles and soften the fine lines by being more mindful about your sun and UV light exposure from tanning booths and time outdoors with a variety of methods like sunscreen, hats, UV light eye protection, layered clothing and avoidance. Because exposure to cigarette smoke has been known to age the skin quicker than time itself, it is also advised to avoid smoking if you would like to avoid excessive wrinkles and other major health concerns.

Common causes of acne and scarring.

One of the most common causes of deep scars due to acne breakouts is inflammation. When you have a pimple, acne breakout or blackhead, the natural reaction is to poke, pop, or otherwise pick at the surface of your skin to eliminate the unsightly visitor.  However, by doing so you rupture the skin and create a new wound that will then go through the body’s natural inflammatory response to heal--sometimes taking much longer than the initial pimple would have taken to disappear by treating the skin. When your follicle or pore becomes full of bacteria, excess oil, dead skin cells or other foreign matter, acne in some form tends to appear.  Based on how deep the dirt goes and if the follicle wall itself breaks close to or deep under the surface of your skin, the acne scar more or less visible and easy to treat.

Natural ways to decrease skin inflammation & acne

There are great ways to naturally decrease skin inflammation and to avoid acne! This day in age we have many option for products, however, they are not all created equal and most of them are more harmful to your skin than helpful. In fact, there are hundreds of products in the United States that are banned in europe because of the toxicity levels in the ingredients  themselves.  It is always a good idea to read the ingredients on your beauty products as there is an increased awareness around harmful ingredients like parabens and mineral oils. Beyond that your body may have a sensitivity unique to you! So follow these simple steps to simplify your skin routine and avoid acne to begin with.

  • Avoid chemicals and soaps when inflamed

  • Limit exposure to hot water as heat adds to inflammation

  • Reduce stress -- yes it causes inflammation!

  • Keep your face and body clean and free of excess humidity

  • Find products like cleansers and moisturizers that are compatible with your skin type and environment

  • Clean up your diet and remove common  inflammatory foods (see blog post!)

  • Avoid smoking and smoky areas

  • Wear clothes made of natural fibers

  • Boost your immunity with the right supplements and vitamins for you (see our vitamin drip page)

  • Use makeup and sunscreens that are mild and made for sensitive skin

How does PRP facials work?

Platelet Rich Plasma facials are an all natural alternative way to improve the quality of your skin and achieve the goals that are otherwise achieved by surgery and non-organic injections like botox, derma fillers, and other potentially toxic materials. For anyone who prefers natural medicine or who is skeptical of the mainstream techniques that involve artificial material injections, there is finally an option that delivers the same results without the same risks. In fact, there is little  to  no risk with the treatment because it is your own body’s natural material! There’s no invasive surgery required and often the treatment itself is only 30 minutes or less and the recovery time is much less than the alternative techniques.
