THE IMPORTANCE OF “TIME”

THE IMPORTANCE OF “TIME”

LIVVING TIME Time has been on the top of my thoughts in the past few months.Everyone has been talking about “hustle” “grind” “work” “motivation” “success” but what does that all mean without “TIME”Time is something we all take for granted. Time is something that nobody can buy. Time is something that is given to us for free. Time is what you have to make something of yourself. Give yourself some time. Give time to the things that are most important to you. The greatest achievements in life – take TIME. Why is time important? Because we don’t have a lot of it! “U.S. EXPECTANCY IN 2011 WAS 78.7 YEARS, WHICH IS SLIGHTLY BELOW THE OECD AVERAGE OF 80.1. FOR U.S. MEN, THE AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY IS 76, WHILE IT’S 81 FOR U.S. WOMEN” Time can move by slow when not utilized correctly. What are you doing with your time?

IF YOU LIVE TO 80 YEARS OF AGE – YOU HAVE LIVED 29,200 DAYS. AT THE AGE OF 27 ½  – YOU HAVE LIVED 10,000 DAYS!

How do we maximize time?

We are able to maximize our time by living the life we have always envisioned for ourselves. To take risks and get outside our comfort zone to really enjoy what this life has to offer. Time is something quantifiable but your life experiences and memories are priceless. The time with your family, the time you spend with your significant other, the time you traveled across the world with your best friends.

Live up to your highest potential. Don’t let the judgments bring negativity into your life and the most critical judge of them all – YOURSELF! Take the leap – take that next step to live the most fulfilling life you can.

Health & Time

I asked a becoming father, what are you most excited about with the birth of your 1st child. “I just want he/she to be HEALTHY”. Parents have the intuitive thoughts to focus on health/wellness. This intuition fades as we age. Things get busy, things are constantly bombarding us, I get it.

Why does our health take the back seat as we get busy or as we age? It should be #1 like when we were born. We are meant to be nurtured and taken care of. Healthcare costs have risen year in and year out but we are afraid to spend anything out of pocket. I urge you to take a step back and really think about what is important, the money you spend on your food and supplements or the cash in your pocket?

Your health is important – not just what you eat, how many steps you take, or what your blood pressure readings are. It’s the manner in which you live, how you live, and why you live. Connecting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual worlds in a synergistic way to live your best life.

Waiting for that next “Fix”

What are you waiting for?

Your comfortable because you can get dopamine surges while in BED. Wild. Remember the time when you got “11” likes on instagram within minutes of posting and you got excited – that was dopamine.

Dopamine is a “reward” behavior neurotransmitter that feeds the brain its executive function, mood, arousal and motivation. Dopamine has some beneficial effects on the body but with constant stimulation via technology and social media. We have become a society itching for our next “fix”. Addictive drugs use the dopamine pathway to keep individuals hooked on the “feeling” that the drug gives them.

With this constant stimulation – no wonder the increase in ADHD, social anxiety, depression, and neurological dysfunctions.

What do you want to do with your time?

What do you want to do in this lifetime? What have you always wanted to do and never gotten to it? It was always on your “to do list” but seems to end up on there year after year.

What do you think is holding you back? Fear? Financial? Time? The biggest excuse is “I don’t have TIME” Hey – Jason how are you able to travel so much? “I pack up my bags and I book a flight. “I can’t take time off work” – Yes you can – you’re just not trying hard enough. People that really want things in life – make things happen. No one paves their path – they create their own path.

Time is not on our side – it ticks and tocks and doesn’t stop – but your heart will at some point. Maximize the opportunity that you have on this earth – to spend your time with family and friends, to make experiences that brings a smile on your face or even the most frightening of faces. Those are experiences that NO ONE can take away from you.

Fear setting – Tim Ferris gives many tips and tricks to combat fear. Get yourself out of your comfort zone and do something you think you would never do. Or write out a fear setting chart – What are the risks. What is the worst that can happen. How long will it take you to recover. Fight your fears!

The History of Time

“Our 24-hour day comes from the ancient Egyptians who divided day-time into 10 hours they measured with devices such as shadow clocks, and added a twilight hour at the beginning and another one at the end of the day-time, says Lomb. “Night-time was divided in 12 hours, based on the observations of stars.”

Now OR Future

Depressive thoughts focus on the past, which decreases motivation and vitality. The individuals that say “You only live once – YOLO” try hard to live in the now. Entrepreneurs and visionaries construct their thoughts and ideas into the future or what’s to come.

It’s important to think about your current goals and how you want to live your life. How do you want to live in your 20’s, 30’s, 40’s. These are your goals or how Matthew McConaughey likes to say “this is the person i’m chasing”. The uncertainty of the future should excite you! It’s the unknown, it’s the surprise of what is to come that should light a fire inside.

Live in the NOW! Being present in your everyday relationships and interactions is crucial to living a meaningful life. People can tell instantly if you are present and actually listening to them. Be present in your daily tasks, conversations and interactions – it will take you to the next level. I promise. It will also allow you to really enjoy and become grateful for the life you have been given.

Thank you for your time. Thank you for taking your time to read this blog and I hope that I hit some key pain points to really make you think about “TIME” and how to livv a life worth living.
